Most Popular Cattle Breeds In The United States

More than 70 recognized cattle breeds are preferred on farms in the United States, making it highly difficult to identify them by name. Of all 70 cattle breeds, Genetics of below 20 breeds is utilized for commercial beef production.

Some of these breeds are highly considered for beef production across the country. The total beef industry produced 27.9 billion pounds of beef in the country. By each year, the demand for meat is continuously increasing. In 2020, beef consumption data increased by 0.4% compared to 2019.

Most common cattle breeds used in the beef industry are- Black Angus, Charolais, Hereford, Simmental, Texas Longhorn, Gelbvieh, Holstein, Limousin, and Highlands. In all these categories, one thing is common, which is the weight of bulls which is 100 to 200 kg higher than cows.
